* Indiana County Prescription Assistance Program helps promote enrollment for county residents who have no prescription drug coverage and cannot afford prescriptions necessary to treat health conditions. This program, through the Indiana County Health Advisory Council and Indiana County Community Action Program, provides information about prescription discount programs and assistance in completing applications for programs. …
It also provides education and outreach and services as a forum to provide physicians with the resources and support needed to assist patients with prescribed medications. To be eligible for the program, county residents must be 19 to 64 years old with no participation in Medicare Part D, no prescription drug coverage and have a chronic health problem. Participants must have an income less than 125 percent of the federal poverty level guidelines. This is not an emergency prescription service. * Kiwanis Baby Cupboard and Indiana County Community Action Inc. are offering to provide diapers at $2 a pack (four packages a month in medium, large and extra large) to qualifying county families with an income lower than 150 percent of the federal poverty guideline. * The Salvation Army’s Ark of Learning Tutoring Program provides free one-hour tutoring sessions up to three times per week for children ages 4 to 18 in a variety of subjects, including math, reading, spelling, English, science and geography. * Breathing Easier Smoking Cessation Program is a five-week course to prepare participants to quit using tobacco. Topics include physiological effects of smoking, behavior and cravings, controlling weight gain, roadblocks and obstacles, stress management and more. The class is held quarterly.
